Pablo Carrillo R. is Partner at CAYPE Abogados, his practice consists of Intellectual Property, including Copyright and Entertainment Law. Prior to joining CAYPE Abogados, Mr. Carrillo was part of the Intellectual Property area in various legal firms in Mexico City such as, Gallastegui, Armella Abogados, Von Wobeser y Sierra S.C., Mijares Angoitia Cortés y Fuentes, S.C. y Avalerroux, S.C. as a holding partner in the area of trademarks and copyrights. He was also part of the legal department of PEMEX Refinación (2007) serving as an intellectual property advisor for the new Pemex Franchise model.

As an independent advisor, he formed the legal area of the Crece Capital, a company specialized in business consulting for SME’s, and subsequently created and developed the area specialized in Intellectual Property for the firm Cayad Abogados, S.C., where he managed to incorporate more than 1,000 trademark into the portfolio in his first year.

Pablo has provided legal advice to large companies within the entertainment sector (digital media, music and production houses) including computer, consumer goods, energy, logistics and transportation, among others. Finally, he has contributed to the constitution, protection of content and development of more than 80 SME’s. Throughout his career he has been actively involved in various administrative disputes concerning the protection of intellectual property rights.

Education

Pablo Carrillo holds a law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana, A.C., Mexico City campus (2005) and a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Universidad de Edimburgo, where he earned a mention for his thesis related to the entertainment industry, covering topics of strategy, marketing and protection of copyright in "digital media". Finally, he has two diplomas in Corporate Finance, one taught by the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México y otro por la Universidad Iberoamericana, A.C., Mexico City campus.

Pablo Carrillo has been a professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana, A.C. for the subject of Business Legal Environment (formerly Corporate and Financial Law).
