David Márquez P. is Of Counsel at CAYPE Abogados. His practice focuses on the areas of infrastructure and energy with special emphasis on the Mexican electricity industry, renewable energy and hydrocarbons. David Márquez has provided legal advice to large companies in the energy sector and has participated in infrastructure projects for electricity generation and construction of transmission lines, as well as in relevant contracts in the field of oil exploitation, refining and transporting hydrocarbons. He has also been an advisor on public and private projects of hydraulic infrastructure and road roads. Since 2015 he has advised clients in Mexico on energy matters and has participated in the negotiation of electricity supply through legacy projects, sale in the Wholesale Electricity Market and attends legal matters relating to procedures before organs industry regulators. In addition, he has been part of advisory teams in international arbitrations in disputes before ICSID, ICC and AAA in matters related to energy and infrastructure contracts.

Prior to joining CAYPE Abogados, David Márquez was an associate at Badell & Grau (2003 - 2010), partner in Márquez & Reverón (2010 - 2014) and holder of the Infrastructure and Energy area at AVA Firm, S.C. (2015 - 2019), in the Mexico City office.

Education

David Márquez holds a degree in law from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (2002) in Caracas, Venezuela (2002) and a master's degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain (2003). He also holds a diploma in Energy Law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho (2014).
